Here are some answers for you. You don't want to be AFC about it by paying for her. I would either go DUTCH or have "her pay for this one and tell her you'll pay for the next one, that's how you and your friends always do it!"

This stuff about not paying is not a dogma. This custom variates so much from country to country that it can not be black and white, do or no do thing.

It also depends how the 2 of U ended up on date. See how it will go, if she wants to pay, let her pay and later, during the conversation, tell her how you liked it and how it tells you a lot of nice things about her as a person. Next time you can pay and so on.

If she waits untill you pay, don`t be a dork, pay for it be make damn sure that, no matter how good U 2 got along and had a good time, you tell her directly in the face how you hate being used like that and that she can forget doing it again. Add that you don`t mind paying, but she still needs a lot of hard work around you before she deserves something like that.

Like I said, there are dosens of different situations where you can, but also where you must not pay for food and drinks, but you have to calibrate the situation, not just apply without thinking something you read on the forum.

the date was excellent. at the end of the lunch, i jokingly said "youre gonna pay for me right?" and she took me seriously and happily said yes. lol i had to tell her i was just kidding. well after that we bounced to the mall to walk around and shop. i think the deal is pretty much sealed since we kissed several times, and she grabbed my hand to hold. we made plans for another date.

oh btw when i say seal the deal, i dont mean sex...

Hey man why are you doing the typical lunch thing for the first date. Not to be an jerk but that seems boring. I've found the less typical the date the better everything flows for me and the girl personally. Take her out to places that are different and fun also not expensive. So you're not expected to pay for much maybe get her something small like a cup of coffee. Then hang with her for about an hour plant a killer knock out kiss on her and leave abruptly. She will be wondering if your going to see her again for the next date.
