Sorry, not sure if this goes here or under sticking points.

So I called a girl to try an get a second date with since I was an AFC.
I don't think the problem is my game specifically but more the fact that she seems to always have to work (although maybe my lack of game is making it difficult to compensate for this).

I've already noticed some major flaws and began correcting them. For example I used to call or text her and go straight towards trying to set up a date. Trying to get the date used to almost always be all about her, sometimes I wouldn't even have a plan in mind I'd just express that I'd want to hang out with her.
I no longer ask her on dates, instead I just call and text to build rapport, I sometimes allude to "next time we hang out" but almost never initiate making plans. The only time I invite her somewhere now is if some one I know is having a social event. I try to convey the message that I'm going to go and have fun either way, I just thought I'd extend her the privilege of joining in on the fun. Overall I think the response I receive from texting is pretty positive. Phone calls on the other hand - not so much.

I just got off of the phone with her after inviting her to a buddy's party and she said something along the lines of, "... sorry. Maybe this weekend we could do something and you can buy me a drink."
To which I replied, "Maybe... or maybe you can buy me a drink."
"I don't know about that," she said.

At this point my dog was doing a pretty good job of distracting me by running around the room and knocking things over. Needless to say it was a bit hard to hear/focus on the conversion. I think she may have said that last line in a playful tone but I'm not really that sure.

Does that sound like a possible IOI, or did I handle that completely wrong?

Is my overall game plan flawed, or do I have the right idea regarding phone/text game and Day 2?

How do you handle distractions while on the phone (or out in the field)?

P.S. I'm fairly certain she wants day 2 because while writing this post I received a text saying, "I really hope you aren't discouraged. Next time, I promise " I haven't responded to this yet (another thing I've been working on is not responding to texts immediately after receiving them) because I'm not sure how to answer it. Any suggestions regarding this?

Try being a bit more creative with your replies because right now it's like "i have bigger one than you" then she goes "no i do" then you go "yes i do".
