AOL: 4804+96th+St.,+Lubbock,+Tx | | Improv'd this today and might keep it in the tool box.
Saw an HB7 a couple tables away at this coffee shop I frequent when I came in. As I sat down I looked up, we locked eyes for about 4-5 secs until she looked down at her book with a little smile. Immediately I get up, walk over to her, put my hands on the seat in front of her and say "are you sitting with anyone?" she looks up bashfully - acting like this is the first she saw me - "no". "ok thanks" the. I take the chair back over to my table and put my bag in it.

I'm new to all of this, but right when I got to her table I thought "I feel like an arc right now I need to throw a twist into the mix" and that's what I did. I don't know what I expected to happen and in short - nothing did. When I looked up later she was back to her book. I knew I couldn't go back to that well twice but also felt it wasn't a bad funny/cocky opening

When you came over to her table... instead of asking for the chair you should of asked about her drink. Something like: "Excuse me... my drink isn't that good... what did you get?"
That opener at least allow a conversation to flow from it.

Deliver either with a very fake serious face or a shit-eating smirk. If you deliver it well, you'll get a laugh and she'll want to talk to you more. There's a great post on playing hard to get around here somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. Link anyone? But if your opener works, you can go into that so she will work for your attention...
