My question is, how long should I wait to text her and what should I say? What's a good opening text line? I don't wanna just say like "hey whatsup"

Never text! that would shows that you are insecure.
call her whenever you want. could even be on the same night...
don't make small talk. tell her a story.

she: hello?
you: "hey jen! you would never guess what happened to me just now!!! bla bla bla bla"

The idea of text is to become part of girl's life as soon as possible. This is a huge step for avoiding flakes. Treat her as to a girl you are seeing. Text her funny stuff. If the text it doesn't trigger her emotion response then don't send it.
