At school, when I see a group of 2 or 1 girls I plan on saying tomorrow:

"so let me guess, your an architecture major and your sociology"...then go from there

I'll create a ftc (i think thats what it is) abt 3 minutes in and say "im in a rush but you seem interesting, have a phone number we should hang out sometimes"

Is this good enough in your opinion? I think its pretty safe and solid, as I will try it on multiple chicks

Safe is not what you want. You want to get the maximum you can from the interaction.
Any line before the "you seem interesting" would simply work with the right attitude and energy. Forget about having pre-scripted lines in your mind before approaching, and just go with what you think, and say what you really want to say. Show some aggression.

I wouldn't recommend using FTC's as they will kill the tension you create with being direct. It makes you look like you can't handle the pressure, when it is actually on her.

Don't think too hard about the structure of how the approach will be and planning where to say what - Just be there and calibrate from what she's saying/communicating.
