I've had this a couple of times where on approaching, the target has seen me coming out of the corner of her eye and turned her face away.
A coupla times I've just aborted at that stage, once I just opened anyway, can't remember what happened, obviously nothing memorable.
I might not be the fastest walker in the world, but I think a power-walk to cover the distance would be weird.
What do you think's going wrong?

maybe she just happened to turn
maybe she knows you're gonna hit on her and doesn't want it
maybe she sees you, is nervous and shy and doesn't want to stare

honestly, most probably the second. approach from the backside when opening!! remember the diagram in the book?!

but maybe you could try negging "you see me coming and you turn your head blah blah' something like that.

I think this is in your head. A woman's face turning shouldn't matter whether you open or not. I've recently opened women walking by me in the completely opposite direction which most guys would never do.

If you were going to ask this girl for directions...what would you do?

Probably approach her and go "excuse me" to get her attention...then ask her a question.

It's the same thing with opening.

"excuse me...this is really random...but I wanted to get a female persective...do you think Mel Gibson should ever be forgiven by the public?"

I just made that opener up. Mel Gibson had some crazy rants aired on the net if you haven't heard them yet. They are freaky...he sounds like a maniac.

Good luck....btw, before you go out in the field, watch a few "street pick ups" on youtube... it will give you inspiration.

Good on the fly Mel Gibson opener by Lightscape.

But for the turning on head thing,I think Scaredstoryteller summed it up.

The girls maybe too shy or dont want to be staring.

It's very rare that you'd be approaching a target(let's say face to face)and she looks directly at you.

The girl would usually turn away slightly(the face or body).

I have this happen all the time, and I approach from an angle from the side.

When the girl senses the tension of the coming approach, she may tense up,break eye contact as you get closer or turn away slightly.

It's nothing. It shouldnt stop your approach.
