Really could use some U.K. openers.
People here are really cold unless you 1)know them 2) have a real reason so talk to them.

Most keep walking after you try to talk to them.

Something like "You know if it wasn't so cold out it would be great outside!" will work well. Going to try some alternative stuff out this Thursday in Bristol.
