i havent talked to a girl in a couple of years. in hs, we were close friends but i got stuck in the friend zone unfortunately.after that we left on not so good terms. now i am trying to give it another shot and see what i can do. without seeming try hard, how can i reinitiate a conversation with her that can lead to seeing her again?

well what form of contact have you got for her?

Have you got her phone number? if you have call her up and say:

"hey hows my favourite lil brat? I was just by (place) and it reminded me of that time when we (something you did with her that was FUN)! How funny was that! I cant believe (whatever happened).

By doing that you instantly get her back into the state she was in when you were at (place). You now have her on the phone so just chat for a bit, give her a bit of banter, then say "hey remember (someone from school)? Were meeting up on the weekend you should so come! Bring (one of her friends from hs) too!

I dont know if this would fit perfectly with your scenario but thats what i would do. If you dont have her number and you see her in person just use the same as above but say you were by (place) the other day and it reminded you of her.
