Ask her if you can borrow her phone. Easy enough. Maybe it's just my powerful frame that allows me to do things like this but I look at it like this. If she thinks you are being rude then make her feel like she is the one being rude.

If that isn't your cup of tea a direct opener would be best for this situation.

Whatever you choose to get her off the phone, make sure you do just that. GET HER OFF THE PHONE.
The main issue is that you have no clue what she is talking about. On the one hand she could be talking to a guy who just won't leave her alone, and she will do anything to exit the convo politely but she could be talking to her mum or something arranging her fathers funeral - quite an important thing. So make sure in some way you distract her from what shes doing. Think of it as sarging a girl with an mp3 in.
I actually think eeks idea of taking the phone off her was a great one, as he said - strong frame needed :/.

Thanks V1V. I have actually done that several times and it has worked out to my benefit borrow the phone make a quick call make sure the person you call knows that it isn't your phone (you can even kinda look over your shoulder and tell the girl that its a private convo)

OR

When she get's off the phone for you to borrow it proceed to program your phone number into her phone BLATANTLY right in front of her introduce yourself and then DHV a bit and either bounce into an instant date or roll out with the classic my friends are waiting for me but I had to come and talk to you bit.

well dude, its hard to approach a girl when she is on the phone, but im sorta new to pua and rite now i cant really think of anything that u can say to her to get her talking to you except some of what others posted here. and those aren't really a gaurantee

My friend is a pretty good pua and i saw him try to open up a few girls that are on their phones and he failed

so its hard to approach a girl on the phone cuz she is busy and you dun know what they r talkin bout and if u interrupt her at a bad time then it wont turn out good.
