The opinion opener is becoming fairly well known now, so what are the options?
The direct openers are a fatality waiting to happen, "Hey, quick question, have any of you guys ever heard of the film [...]?" Turn to wingman, say something like "See, told you," and then say "cheers" and leave, but it's probably not nearly leading enough to get anyone interested, especially as I've approached with some level of confidence and will probably leave with the exact same.
Using opinion openers in different formats is probably a good way forward. I've never really had much luck at meeting women on my own without having known them first, and I've noticed the more conscious of my objectives I am the harder it's becoming.
