My favorite opener is to walk up and say "hey got a question for ya, if a guy is going to approach a girl he doesn't know, does he have a better chance getting her number if he's direct or indirect?"
She'll either say "direct" or "indirect" or "what do you mean by direct/indirect"
If she says direct then you say "okay whats your number"
If she says indirect then say " okay well do you know what time it is" and she'll laugh and then you say " okay whats your number"
If she says what do you mean by direct/indirect then you say well direct would be just asking you for your number and indirect would be asking you for the time first or something like that. Then when she says either direct or indirect you copycat the example you gave her and then ask for her number. Almost everytime they appreciate the balls you've shown and if they're single will give you their number.

I think I saw this done by one of the instructors from PUAtraining on youtube.

It's a funny opener but I'd lose the whole going for the number bit. Yea you might get it but if that's the entire interaction the flake rate will be ridiculous, if they even respond. A number honestly doesn't mean anything, a solid number means a whole lot more.

I tried something like this a few times...sounds good on a post. In RL, i ran into the prob that it doesn't go this smoothly. Most of the time, you'll have to pre-empt the number close with something like"

me: Well now that we both agree on the best approach, I'm not sure where to go.
Her: Where to go? (or words to that effect)
Me: Yeah...where to take you out...I was thinking an evening meal at (insert fancy restaurant) would be good...but looking at you, you seem a more down to earth girl who would rather go to (insert steak house or something equal).
Her: [generally] why do you say that?
Me: You don't seem like the kind of gal who truly appreciates a fella who tries to impress you (minor neg) and I just wanna have dinner and get to know one another. So on that note...let me give you a call and we can set something. (Do this while reaching for phone, it'll be harder for her to give an excuse.)

Viola - number close....rest is on you. jj

I think its ok to go straight for the number if she says direct. But i think you need to use this as a display of your cocky funny qualities, rather than actually expecting her to give it straight away. If she does give it to you, stay with her and dhv and build comfort for at least 10 mins. If she refuses, chances are she ll do it in a "haha your so cheeky" kind of way, which is just her way of saying she s not that easy but still potentially as interested. So if this happens, do the exact same dhv, and comfort u would've done anyway, and number close at the end.

that was my question. Does anyone here have an opinion on which is the best way to open. Direct or indirect. I personally dont like opinion openers. Any advice?

Has anyone actually tried this and had success? I have a problem keeping conversation going long enough to build enough value to get a number. This could solve my problem and allow me to get a girl in a more comfortable enviornment where I could really work on my conversation skill. I don't want to waste time though.

I will most likely will try this tomorrow evening. But why don't you try it yourself? Maybe it works wonders for me but will give you absolutely nothing, or the other way around. Only way to check if it works and is congruent with your style if you try it yourself.
