Hey.

Im a recovering addict (clean 9 years) and always get the whole "why dont you drink?" Sometimes I will divert and shift the focus, especially if its not a day two.
If Im on a day two sometimes I will tell her about being in recovery and not drinking/using.

Now, the question is: How would you frame this to be a DHV instead of a DLV? There has got to be a way, after cleaning up I worked at the rehab for yearly 5 years (helping other young people get clean etc)

Feedback?

Cheers, Groovester

Good job on your recovery. I have a lot of addiction in my family so I kinda know whats up.

You don't have to tell anyone shit. Have a good line like "Drinking makes me take my clothes off." Whatever. Keep it light though. If you bust into how youre a recovering addict and get all serious, it will bring down the mood.

The most important thing is to be comfortable with who you are. If youre fun to be around, no one will care if you don't drink. If you get pressed on the issue, just say you had to stop drinking for health reasons and MOVE ON. Its only an issue if you make it one.
