Been having this on and off again interaction with a co-worker that I can't seem to nail down. She is young(20-21) and i'm 30. Sad to say I have ALOT of mental limiting beliefs I am still working on. One of the things I have a hard time reading is interpreting IoI's.
Part of the reason why this particular situation is difficult to interpret is the current environment im in. I am military active duty and dating is a bit more precarious and even more so dangerious if you say the wrong thing to the wrong person. I'm also black and the chick im talking about is a 20-something year old white girl. In our interactions there is always this push and pull and I don't know if its on purpose on her part of if its just a natural response from my ineptitude. Given my personality, I am always trying to implement some fo the things I have learned from the game to flesh out my personality and to be more outgoing. As such it gets mixed results from the chick in question and im not to sure if she is really conscious of it or not. These are some of the IOI I get from her which comes from different situations we are in:
1.) There are moments or periods of time that I don't want to talk to her or people in general so I have this brooding behavior. It would get to a point where I was just straight up repellent to some people. The thing is she would start to invade my space a bit in those periods. She would come into my room for no reason to strike up a convo. We would all be in the hallway having a convo and then should would walk up to me and push me for no reason.
2.) There were times when I would be standing in the hallway waiting for a pt and she would come up a few times and get into a fighting stance to hit me. The thing is I know when im being aggressively unfriendly. It was annoying at times because my behavior was consistant and I didn't want to be bothered but there she was. It got to the point were she would try to hit me and I would sway away to avoid her making contact with a straight face and she would just walk away.
3.) She would often times play the "amused mastery poor baby" routine with me on certain things when she would come around. im sort of not confident in my knowledge of medicine but I know my stuff and sometimes when we talk or whatever she would say something amusing about it. It never really bothered me but it stuck out a lot when I thought about it.
4.) She would often times "readjust" my uniform for no reason. The ACU uniform has a flap like design on the back and she would always adjust it on me but not on other people.
5.) When I first got to know here in small convos, I remember talking to a buddy of mine while she was around about going shopping for food. She jumps into the convo and offers to give us a ride to the grocery store. Afterwards she just gives me her number and tells me to give her a call to set it up. The original event itself is another story but afterwards she would always offer to give me a ride when I don't ask to a place I need to go to that is mentioned in a convo or two. Ill be walking home and she would just offer but I have a habit of just walking where I need to go so I don't usually ask.
Though these are not the usual IOI, I don't know if they are IOI just because she is being open or nice or if they are because she likes more. There is SO much more to this story but these were the usual things I saw during the time that I have worked with her. She is the body type that I like and I wouldn't mind bedding her but given the circumstances, all I want to do is go through the "process" of the back and forth and not the BS im going through now.
