I was with a family member at a store a few days ago. The girl who helped us was very cute but I felt uncomfortable asking for her number with the family member present (mistake). I've gone back to the store to talk to her but she wasn't there. What's the best approach here--leave my number with her coworkers or ask them when she'll be there? Some other non-stalkerish alternatives?

Sounds pretty stalkerish already dude.

Forget about her. When you start going back to someone unwarranted like that you border being a stalker. You've got her on a pedestal. You should only be thinking in the here and now and seize opportunities as they present themselves. The only reason you should go beyond and get someone's attention is if they're in the same social group.

I don't have her on a pedestal, she just seemed more interesting than most other girls I would have approached. What's your motivation for not pursuing an interest outside of your social group?

Just pop in to the store from time to time during the normal course of you going about your business; don't stalk the store. You'll catch it on a day she's there. Don't forget to approach non-hired-guns (that are everywhere you look) in the meantime.
