To briefly explain, im a DJ at a couple of nightclubs and always have hoards of women ask me for differnt songs, some i want to play some i wont...

Usually i get a very quick "can you play so so and" they wait for my response and go back to their group...

how would you turn this situation around to open?

"What? No way! I'm not your performing monkey, I've got a strict list to adhere to missy!"
"Oohh, please?"
"I'll give you one chance to win that song, if I lose, I'll play the song and give you something special, if you lose, you have to give me a kiss"

Or something?

I had similar problems when DJing as well. Because you've only got a few seconds to talk to them I always found it was best to be really direct. You don't want your track to run out while your chatting up a girl!

I used the following with a lot of success:

Instead of taking verbal requests, cut up a load of pieces of paper and get some pens (this allows you to screen the requests and the girls making them as well. See one you like? Then talk to them).

When they write down the request look at it and say

DJ: "Hey, there seems to be a problem with this"
HB: "What"
DJ: "Your phone number isn't on the bottom"

Make sure you're a bit cocky when you say it. You've immediately indicated interest, it'll probably make her laugh and you''l have got her attention.

If you get her number tell her to wait for you until after your set and you'll meet up.
