Girls at fast food places

So I was at a Culvers the other day and there was this pretty cute cashier girl HB 8 and I was going to go up to her and start conversation but 2 problems occurred

1. There was always someone ordering from her register which was just bad timing on my part

2. I was was not so sure about how I could go about engaging in conversation just because she is a cashier so I really couldn't have a lengthy conversation due to fact that other people would want to order their food does anyone have any tips about how you could make some progress with a girl that has a pretty short time window to talk?

Can't you just go there 1 hour or 30 minutes before they close? The place is usually empty the last few minutes and you can take advantage with that. Order something cheap and run the conversation.

An 8 working fast food? I'm having some difficulty wrapping my brain around that one.
