Hey guys, I really love the help this community is giving me hope of bettering my game. So I've had a few approaches since my last post and have started getting used to the "pebble" that is AA.... Now today my friend and I had an approach with a one set with a wing man in a college library. My friend insisted that we both go into the set, but I declined and said it wouldn't seem totally natural if we both went into the set and opened with the "dental floss opener". I followed him and just let him open the set and as he started he began the opener and gotten it wrong so I quickly picked up the slack and kept the conversation going and he carried on with the c's and u's and kind of messed that up and I had to salvage the conversation up. All in all it was rather messy, but it got better from then on it was fine; however there was a point where she asked if we were "testing something out", some girls are freakishly intuitive. I'm pretty sure if we went in the way I suggested, making the dental floss question seem as an argument that we were trying to settle, the set would have seemed more natural and she would have been less likely to question our approach! In my opinion ( I could be wrong) she was at first intimidated by both of us approaching her table and starting a conversation but then began to blush, ( I'm not sure if it was because she knew she was being hit on or the fact that she was intimidated). My question is: unless the routine/opener needs a wingman, is it effective and/or beneficial to have a wingman approach a one set?

depends upon the set, the environment, the wingman, etc.

If the set has multiple people, wingmen never hurt - they can help handle the big upsets that PUA's have when gaming a set of multiple people - that is what a wingman is for anyways, to handle the shit you don't want to / have to.

For a 1 set, I wouldn't say they would have to come over. I would point to them when you open with an "argument" question as to show that there is another person in your group - makes the argument more legit.

Even if he does fudge up the stuff, which is natural for those who haven't gamed a lot before - we all have been there - I wouldn't do much about it and just, like you did, continue. I would have eventually made it clear for him to leave, and then game a bit more, #-close and eject.
