So I am a newbie and I have huge difficulties with approaching women.
The biggest problem in my mind that is stopping me is. What come after the "I think you are cute" .
As I am the type of guy who learns very fast from examples then I believe if you guys would write
some examples of conversations you have had with a direct opener on day time . It could help me a lot and also I believe there are many others who would find this beneficial as well.

The longer the better but even a couple of first lines (4-6) of conversation would be awesome as well.

This definitely is not the only thing that is stopping me but I just have so much more confidence when I believe I know what to do.

Me: Hey this is really random but you're absolutely adorable! Tell me everything about you!
Her: HAHAHA omg thank you! That awesome
Me: I really like your glasses. It makes me think your a psychology student
Her: OMG how did you know i am a psychology student at Penn State
Me: Ha i can always tell these kinds of things. I went to Florida State for four years and studied business.
Her: FLorida! That must have been so nice. Warmth and the beach. Nothing beats that
Me: Word. There are so many things to do in Florida. My personal favorite thing to do in the sun was play basketball. What do you do in your free time?
Her: Well i usually lounge around the house and if get a chance i pickup my guitar
Me: Guitar, very cool. What type of music are you into? You seem like you would get down with some Jimi Hendrix
Her: Haha no Jimi Hendrix for me. Although i do love Led Zepplin
Me: Hey i gotta get going. You seem really cool! Let me get your number, we will talk more and if we like each other we can hang out!
Her: OK! My number is 555-555-5555
Me: Nice, well i like forward to hearing from you again!
Her: Me too!

That's a very basic outline of what i usually encounter while approaching direct during the day. You have to calibrate this kind of stuff. I usually like to qualify her by asking her some questions and also making a cold read about her. You also want to prompt her behavior saying that she is (insert adjective here) such as cool, or mellow, whatever (just not bitch or something negative). Anything you want her to act out in your interactions. Get the number close. You can even call her then to make sure she has your number or send her a text later! If you have any more questions holla at me!

Now from here you can do tons of things, the most important is to realize your not complimenting her to win her approval. You're being direct. You're a man going for what he wants.
Honestly if she seems interested off the bat (which does in fact happen. Girls decide ridiculously quickly if they want a guy or not) I say go for it.

Something simple like: Hey listen I gotta get out here, but let's get a coffee or something sometime. What's your number?

It's very simple and basic, no guarantees, but nothing's a guarantee when it comes to women. That's why going for it shows confidence.

IF SHE JUST SAYS THANK YOU
Just use opinion routines and openers.
Throw in a few negs and go from there mate.
Then say "Hey, I gotta bounce out of here right now, but I'd love to pick this conversation later. What's your number?"

After telling that she is cute,
Tell what you are planning to do at the moment and ask her to join.
if she is not available at the moment, ask for the phone number or something to continue the conversation later.

I would use a sincere approach even if it is boring rather than the the flirty funny approach as the one rockets give as an example, but well everybody has its own style. Just be ready to use humor at the moment she puts an objection. Otherwise keep it as cool as possible as if you were talking to an old time friend.
