Ye it's a good question to ask but in my opinion it is better to make questions look situational and less prepared... I personally would tweak the question slightly... "Are you girls trying to impress guys or outdo each other?"... It's situational because you're talking about her group at that moment in time... not talking about girls in general... might field test this myself and see how it goes if you don't mind...
Also would I be right in saying you're from Merseyside? If so having a hair extension line might be useful haha I've seen somewhere on these forums (not sure were so kudos to who ever thought of this) but you could just tug her hair (gently don't pull her to the ground of course) and say is that real?

Im actually from Australia but im traveling all over the usa and canada.
I did read somewhere about style puling girls hair if it looks sort of fake.
