Hmmm, this really depends on in which country you are. It was popular in my country more than 5 years ago and when someone does that today he is considered a weirdo and you can easily get that look from a girl in which you can see she considers you to be a little bit a looser.

But who knows... We need to see rest of the opinions. In Eastern Europe it's not so effective.

That could be viewed at as very cheesy. Pickup lines rarely work and more importantly it portrays you as someone who tries these things all the time. Best ice breaker is straight up going up to the girl and saying "Hi my name is x".

You will know immediately how they respond if they are interested or not. If they aren't ask a questions that sorta throws them off guard or maybe crack a joke.

This is just my opinion of course...

I have seen this attempted by other guys before but then saw them crash and burn. Its certainly an interesting thing to try out, and could work perhaps if you had a good follow up to make yourself sound fun and not like a weirdo/creep, however i personally wouldnt use this as its a bit cheesy plus you'd have to get the girls attention for them to see you chuck the ice on the floor, if they dont see it, you just look weird. In loud clubs you are going to have trouble getting their attention at first and it doesnt demonstrate higher value as you are showing interest in them and that you are chasing them, whereas the usual opener is a quick question or asking of their opinion because they are simply girls, not because you want to talk to them if this makes sense. You should talk to them almost over your shoulder like you are about to leave and have better places to go, and if your opener is interesting and good enough, they will try and hook you in and stop you from leaving.
