| Sometimes it's good to have high standards. Having high standards mean that you won't settle for any woman (or anything that has a pulse), and that you'd go for women with high qualities. It's what all of us at the PU community want: a high quality woman with a few quirks here and there, but still pretty damn sexy.
However, if you've watched "How I Met Your Mother", you'd best avoid trying to be like Ted Mosby!!! You see, the problem with Ted is that he pictures a woman in this almost impossible way, and although he has slept with a lot of women (but less than Barney), he's still alone due to his high standards, which is next to impossible.
So these are some tips I learned from personal experience:
1. Have average looking friends - Be friends with anyone. Beauty isn't all that important; rather, it's the personality of the person that wins you over. Who'd you rather pick: an HB10 with a bitchy attitude, or an average looking girl who's the nicest person you've ever met? You can lower your standards by accepting the physical appearance of other people, whether if they'd be fat, too "nerdy-looking", black, white, asian, or whatever, instead of just one boring category where all your friends look almost the same. But if they have a sour attitude, you shouldn't let them spoil your milk; find other friends. Speaking of flaws.....
2. Accept the flaws of other people - Like I've said, physical imperfection is a thing you can accept. Human beings are born to make mistakes, so if a friend of yours fails to do a favor, an important task, or whatever, you shouldn't hold a grudge against them. I've had three people in my life who didn't follow my directions for three consecutive days, but holding a grudge against them won't accomplish anything. Just forgive and forget. And if that HB still has that bitchy attitude? Forgive and forget.
3. Face reality - Sometimes, life deals us a shitty hand, or in this case, girls. You'd always expect that royal flush to help you win the pot, but in the end, someone else flopped you out. I'm not saying that you should date girls that are average or below average. You should date girls that are within your reach, but if you see that one SHB, then give yourself a chance and make something happen!
Hopefully, these helped you out, man. I had high standards, too, when it came to making new friends. Now, I'm friends with almost anyone on my floor in college. Good luck on lowering your standards, man!
