Not sure if this goes in approach or mid game section or not so sorry in advanced if it is in the wrong section.

just a quick explanation, I am very new to the game and currently practising MM to get into the swing of things so to speak.

I went out last night and my aims for the evening was working on approaching and then get into a conversation.

I was easily going to sets and using openers to good success however I was not really able to get them to the 'hook point' where they pull me into the conversation so to speak.

I was rolling off and using time constraints and some negs but it just wasn't sticking as a newbie I figure I am either missing a step or doing something without realising was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I could get past this sticking point?

also as a side note if anyone with a bit of experience in the game is happy to go sarging and give a newbie some pointers I would be very greateful, currently in nottingham, uk.
