How do you transition from a FUNCTIONAL OPENER?

A functional opener is asking the time or what I like to say best is "Hey do you know how to get to Brunswick bowling ally from here by any chance?" Then I don't know how to transition afterwards. I find that they're already comfortable after asking that question but I have no idea how to transition, if I were to try today I would transition by saying "so where are you from, or what are you up to today". Those probably suck but that's the best I got lol

The only time I used a direction opener like that, I convinced the target to walk around the block and point out the building to me, running game on her the whole time. I say forget the fluff and once your past the opener just DHV.

I don't live in the city, I live in a small town. I'm a shy kid and I don't have the courage to use anything else yet.. I'm usually at target or a bookstore so It's hard for me to transition after the opener, any ideas on what to say? Thanks again

I would say get her opinion on it. The bowling alley example - ask directions then ask is she has ever been/does she go bowling/where else would she recommend? After that throw in a DHV, "when I was in france/sierra lione/pakistan they had really cool bowling alleys, you didn't even need to pay!" etc etc

She should be intrigued and then move from there. Im not quite sure on FTCs during day game though, anyone else?
