Yesterday I decided to approach as she has smiled at me and made eye contact in the past. I brought some friends to be my wings in case she was there with her friends, otherwise I would approach alone. She was with friends and they were giving IOI's so we approached. I engaged the rest of the girls while ignoring the target and to DHV I told a story about driving sports cars (I have seen HB9 staring at my hot rod in parking lot, whether or not she knew it was mine I don't know but I know she noticed it) and how I was a championship street racer and how a few times the police busted up the race and I had to get out of there quick (all true).
Now the other girls were ALL OVER me and they were so interested but the target made a comment about how street racing is dangerous and someone could get killed and such. I negged by implying she was no fun and playfully asked her "What are you, a cop?", to which she put a badge on the table and said "Yes." I went blank. I had no idea what to do after that. I stammered and tried to eject as quickly and gracefully as possible. I still have no idea what I should have done. I am wondering if I have blown it or if I should approach again when I see her. Is there any chance to salvage or am I totally dead in the water here?

Female officers at some point in their careers will have had to inform relatives of people killed in traffic accidents and have been tragically moved by it. To her now you're the lowest of the low.

Also depending on female's age and maybe location, bragging about speed, or breaking the law, or risky behavior doesn't appeal to as many women as guys thinks it does. Owning a hot rod doesn't appeal to as many women as you think it does. It's sort of difficult for me to provide most accurate advice b/c I don't know about your city but I will try.Forget about what has already been said. Think of it now in terms of you have an interest in her job or department and you want to ask a serious question about it. You might ask how often she has to testify in court. Or how long was her rookie school, or if she's an FTO (field training officer), or if she enjoys her job. something like that will get her talking. But you want a comeback or routine to what she says where you can have a conversation. but try to avoid going back to the original pick up conversation with the racing shit
Melodical usually police departments depending on size have a few cops out of the several which actually do that. Usually a cop trained to handle fatality accidents.
