It's New Year's Day and people are texting "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! lol" to their friends. One of my close friends sends a mass text message to me and her other friends, and I only knew one other person from the list of contacts; the rest are totally unknown to me.

I've responded to the mass text message, but it turns out that EVERYONE can see what I wrote, so it appears as if I directed the message to them individually. So I get a text message from one of my friend's friend, and the conversation follows:

Her: "? Who is this"
Me: "One of [friend's name #1]'s friends, maaan lol"
Her: "You HIII haha c: okay cool haha"
Me: "Ever get sent a mass text only to know just two people? Lol"
Her: "haha I think it has happened once to me :3"
Me: "You know [friend's name #2], right?"
Her: "yes !"
Me: "Yeah, him, [friend's name #1], and I are planning to chill together sometime when classes start again. You should totally join us."
Her: "lol mhm I'm in high school still, if you guys don't mind then sure thing haha wait do you know me ?"
Me: "Absolutely not. Just met you through a text lol"
Her: "oh alright haha I thought you did "
Me: "I assumed that [friend's name #1] sent the mass text message to college peeps, but I didn't know she had peeps in kiddie school haha :p"
Her: "lol oh shush it ! >.>"
Her: "you're probably a freshmen in college !"
Me: "And you're probably a freshmen in high school! :O"
Her: "junior* "
Me: "A" Note: I've hit the A key on my iPhone by accident. iPhones are naturally slippery little motherfuckers.
Her: "U"
Me: "POP QUIZ: Which element in the periodic table has the chemical symbol Au?"
Her: "GOLD"
Her: "that's what my name means lol my name is [her name] "
Me: "Bonjour. Je m'appelle [my name]. J'etudie un nutrition et biochemistrie. Et toi?"
Her: "okay you're now instantly two time more awesome then you were if you were"
Me: "...if I was Ryan Gosling?"
Her: "perfect"
Me: "Define 'perfect'. Like, you're asking me what I can do and stuf?"
Her: "lol nope forget it haha"
Me: "1) I've taught my dog to fluently bark Spanish. 2) I've never lost a breathing contest. 3) My charisma is what lead to the extinction of the dinosaurs. 4) My car doesn't run on gas; it runs on love. That is why it never runs out of fuel."
Her: "marry me [emogie ring] haha"
And from there on out, it's rapport, rapport, rapport. I've noticed that if I respond to her text after a moment's silence, she quickly shoots me a reply without hesitation. IOI much?

Anyways, I think it's risky business texting a friend's friend, whom you have absolutely no frickin' idea as to what the person looks like [nationality, physical appearance, gender (if they have not given you his/her name), etc], what grade s/he is in, his/her relationship status, medical history (is s/he bat-shit crazy?), and all other vital information. In my head, I'm picturing her to be hot, but I can't let my imagination build up my expectations only to be torn down by reality!

And I've also learned one thing: I can build rapport with a complete stranger (assuming that she is a girl)!!!

So to you guys, have I played my cards right and done the right thing by randomly talking to a random stranger, or in this case, my friend's friend, whom I've never met in person? Would you guys have done it, too? And what could I have done differently in the above conversation to improve my text Game?
