How to Open Customers at WORK!?! (Indirect or Direct opener)

Through out of all my jobs ive seen a bountiful amount of beautiful HB daily customers range from a hb8 to 10!!...well currently I work at a grocery store...and I work outside I bring the carts back n from the lot....so I was wondering what's the best way to open a customer...whould you go direct or indirect??...and what would u say?
