I usually kick in the direction where the girl is (make sure not to hit her!) ask her for a hand then invite her to play you start tossing the ball while you try to chat her up. Easy right?
Field tested (if it matters?) I've done this with several girls and have gotten a few numbers sometimes I just let my buddies go for them perfect ice breaker shows value because you're being active and having fun with friends and since you ask her to play you seem outgoing and sociable
There are some things to keep in mind; some girls will make excuses and say they can't throw/kick/catch etc, this may not be necessarily that they are trying to blow you off or don't want to play it's that they actually can't kick/throw/catch and they get embarrassed or are shy. Encourage her toss her the ball/frisby/hacky sack gently it will boost her confidence. Mention how you also can't kick/throw/catch. Some have said no because of w/e reason to which isn't to bad either because now you initiated conversation and she'll remember you as that one fun guy who invited her to play. So next time you can invite her to play again or just have a normal converstion.
