How do i approach at a Posh 'do'

Next Saturday i am attending a very posh 'do' at a local school (i'm 17). This is one of the best all girls schools in the country and is a DJ (dinner jacket) event. The girls will all be looking extremely elegant. The theme is 'Rio' so the girls will be wearing colourful dresses. As far as i know its a 3 course meal but that's all i know, i think there might be champagne reception etc but idk about 'dancing' or anything else.

On a personal note i am fairly confident and am a decent looking guy who has had success.

The reason i'm writing this is because i need to know when is good to approach and how etc.

I have a few lines etc but it might get repetitive.

Any help and advise will be greatly appreciated!
