Before I start, I posted an introduction and got some good advice from Kasabi about going to a random town, asking for directions and keeping a journal of things to help with my bad AA (if the guy who posted that reads this I do understand the exercise). I plan on doing this Saturday but today I found myself in a situation that was too good of an opportunity to miss.

I was in a clothes store with my friend and he busy looking around so I wandered off on my own. As I was looking I noticed that there was a hb7 who worked their basically doing nothing, she was just standing in a corner pretty much. So I walked over near to where she was and looked at some shoes, which I was genuinely interested in anyway. I could feel her watching me out the corner of my eye so I looked at her and she gave me a grin, so I smiled back, got nervous and looked back at the shoes again. Looking back I should have said something right away because I broke the three second rule by about 5 minutes. I continued looking and eventually plucked up the courage to ask her opinion on some shoes which went like this

Me: Excuse me, do you have any of these in a 10?
hb7: Yeah we have some out back, I can get them if you like
me: No that's okay I'm kind of having trouble deciding actually.
hb7: Really what are you looking for?
me: I'm looking for blah blah blah
hb7: blah
me: So which of these shoes do you prefer? ( I point at 2 random pairs)
hb7: Well they're the same pair
me: really I'm pretty sure they're not, they cost different amounts
hb7: no it's just the light in here makes the look different...
me: ok, umm (right now I'm thinking they aren't the same pair they are obviously different)

At this point hb7 starts singing to herself.

me: (awkwardly) you must like that song a lot.
hb7: yeah haha (fake laugh, silence and wanders off).
me: thanks anyway.

That took a lot of courage for me to do and what I have concluded is I have a lot to learn and that they don't hire shop assistants for they're eyesight. My question is could I have done differently here? And why was her body language so bad towards me? She was facing away and couldn't keep eye contact, hey eyes kept darting away like this wanted to be somewhere else.

Great stuff. It doesn't matter what you achieve compared to the other field reports, what matters is that you push yourself out of your comfort zone.

What you could have done differently? Shop workers re paid to be nice to customers. Gaming a girl who's working is one of the most difficult things to pull off. Busting her on her song choice would have been an easy move though. Also, don't argue the small points.

Thanks for comment mate. Just because other field reports achieve more than I did doesn't mean it wasn't an achievement for me. Probably most of the people who read this forum and don't post are in my position anyway.
