Okay, I gotta start off with saying, I'm not a PUA nor am I trying to become one. I'm just a guy who's single for the first time in years, would like a new gf, but am unsure about how to approach women now. I figured PUAs might have some useful tips for me.

A week ago, I was at a local bar and saw this little bombshell walk in with her friends. We made eye contact a few times from across the room, but I didn't make a move (I should have but I couldn't figure out if she was there with her bf. I figured out through the course of the night that her friend's bf was trying to hook a couple of his friends up with a couple of his gf's friends, but it wasn't going good for 'em). I noticed that she was getting herself closer and closer to my table. I decided, alright, it's now or never, and I couldn't let this be a never moment so I walked up to her, gently grabbed her arm just above her elbow to get her attention, and said, "Hi (gave her a big smile), my name's R******," and extended my hand.
She shook it and replied, "Hi (returned a big smile), I'm J*****."
"Nice to meet you," I replied, "Can I get you a drink?"
She said, "Ohh, I'm sorry but we're getting ready to take off."

Now, I know I waited too long to approach her. Hell, me and my friends were getting ready to leave, it was getting close to last call. We got to the bar pretty late that night, around 11:30. And I realized later that I probably should have asked for her number and to take her to dinner or something. But did I mess up anything else? I have no clue. Oh yeah, one other thing, she was telling the truth about getting ready to leave. Me and my friends left about 5 minutes later, as we were leaving the parking lot, we saw her and her friends walking to their car.

You're now single in years,yet you just want a new gf?

Why!!?

Your aim right now should not be on getting a new gf if you're newly single.

Anyway.

"Can I get you a drink"!!!?

What the hell are you doing!!?

You dont by strangers drinks;at least not in that fashion,and not without her earning it!

You'd broken the cardinal rule of Pick Up!

You turned her off by suggesting buying her a drink!!

If you'd asked for her # that moment,she wouldl've politely declined to give.

Why?

No attraction.

If she did give the # pre-maturely,it would've been a fake # or she would not answer your calls later on.

You hadnt build any attraction and you're thinking about # closing?

Finally,you should not be looking a new gf.

If I was to break up with my gf tomorrow,the last thing on my mind would be a new gf.

So just enjoy women and sex.

Another relationship will come but dont push it nor aim for it.

I'm not THAT recently single. I've been single for over a year now, still fairly recent in my eyes.

Any tips to help me out next time I find myself in a similar situation? I've seen numerous posts saying don't buy the girl a drink, either she buys you one or there's no drink buying going on. Any other tips, how to build my value or anything like that.
