I've only tried this out once and I was genuinely in a rush, so didn't have time to follow it up. But it made me laugh.

ME: Hi, could I ask a quick question? Do you think Cyndi Lauper was lying when she said *sing* 'Oh, girls just wanna have fun?'
HB: Umm, Yes!
ME: Cuz you don't look like you're having much fun at all. But there's a spark in your eye that says sometimes you just want to let loose and have as much fun as possible.

The girl laughed here and agreed (of course she did, who doesn't like to have fun?)

From here I just asked how she likes to have fun, and then asked if she was spontaneous, etc.

I like it because it flows into the realms of fun, rather than having to break off. It seems pretty natural. Also, singing in public shows confidence right off the bat and there's no way she'd be expecting that, so there is instant interest.

Also, if the girls says 'No' when you ask her, you can just change the reply ever so slightly and keep the follow up the same.
