So there was this really cute part timer (HB8) working at a nearby pharmacy/drugs store I spotted sitting all by herself during her break time looking really bored.

I being all pickupy and newbie and all decided to approach her and went direct. I don't know whether it's the body language or it's because she was tired but nothing I said evoked any form of IOI or positive response which kind of killed my mood so I just politely told her it was nice talking to her and ejected.

Now I wouldn't otherwise have made mention of it in this post except that she was the kind of girl I could really see myself hanging out a lot with. So my question is, how do you make a direct opener + good body language that'll get even the most tired and bored of set(s) to take interest in you?

Open body language. No hands behind your back, keep your hands open and in front of you. Stand up straight, shoulders back, but not to the point you look pompous. Keep your hands away from your face and the back of your head.
