but i want to know what tricks are easily enough to do without having to carry around a whole load of props. which hav u guys tried and got positive feedback with?

That and you can learn some easy palming techniques to "vanish" small objects (coins, a ring, a small ball of paper, etc).
You can use magic if you really want to but just don't over do it. You don't want to become an entertaining clown, you want to pick the girl up. I wouldn't make an effort to be like "Hey, look what I can do!", but if your hobby or whatever comes up a simple trick isn't bad.
By the way, J.B. Bobo's Modern Coin Magic is a good place to start learning (I do not work for or have any relation to this product, I just recommend it due to it's content and usefulness).
