I recently moved to a foreign country to study, Czech Republic to be exact. Now the folks here do not have the 'rare' ability to speak english, I mean it's only the biggest language in the world..

Anyway, my stay here is stretching over five years so I have to come up with a way to be able to approach women but can't find out how since I don't speak the language and won't do so yet for quite some time ahead unfortunately, it does take considerable time to learn a language and even more so to be able to pick up in that language.

So, any suggestions?

Learn the language
Find the ones who speak english
Learn the phrase "do you speak english"...

It will take quite some time to learn the language to an extent where I can approach women and have a conversation with them. How do you suggest I go about finding the ones that speak english? Just approach girls as normal, open, and hope they understand?

you could improve your chances by going after business people or students, as they will be more likely to speak english.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm a native english speaker living in Hong Kong and even though English is one of the main langauges here, a lot of locals don't have a good grasp of it.

However, my approach is to firstly learn a little bit of their langauge, just enough to get a few smiles and laughs from them when using it. It helps make them feel relaxed and more comfortable with me. Secondly, I'll tend to use my approaches in areas where foreigners hang out or areas where I know english is used, not sure if you have this in your town/city, but in Hong Kong the situation is prevalent.

Thridly, I'd make sure I've got the right body langauge, making eye contact etc, use some simple routines with basic vocabulary, learning some magic tricks would be cool. Hey Mystery was able to get that girl on his European trip who didn't speak a word of English. Although he was using a translator, might want to make a male friend who is bilingual to be your wingman.

My final tip to how I've had a lot of success is to approach girls and show them you want to learn the local language and would they mind helping you out with some lines. In Hong Kong, the girls love to help and you can build a lot of rapport by doing so.

Perhaps you could walk around with a phrase book and when you see a target just try and use that quite blatantly.
