If I add women on facebook, I don't technically "know", I get about a 90% acceptance rate (without having to add a message) if we have mutual friends, the more the better. Even works when I don't technically "know" the mutual friends either ha.

its the phenomena of social proof. I posit they either think, they met me via mutual friends but dont remember or I must be "ok" if people they trust "think" I'm "ok".

or perhaps some combination of both.

Generally I find them on 'people you may know'. Anyone else have experience of this phenomena?
