I asked this girl that I've been messaging back and forth to recommend me a TV show. She named one of my favorite shows so I complimented her on her taste with a teasing "Oh you're just saying that so I'll like you."

Her response: "Listen pal, I get about 298439849 offers on this damn site a day; I could care less if YOU like me."

So I'm trying to figure out the best way to respond to this. Let me know which of these you think is best.

Funny: Don't flatter yourself, 298439848 of those are my other accounts. I wonder who that last guy is though...

Direct: No need to get bitchy. I'm trying to pay you a compliment on your taste.

Calling her on it: How many of the 298439848 pass this test of yours?

Teasing: Sure... you're a pretty girl and your profile picture appears to be naked. [Don't know what to follow this with, suggestions?]

Cocky: Ooh, and you use semicolons too! You're really trying too hard with me.

I like "calling her on it".

Who cares,,, just send her something. Without them in front of us,, there is a limit as to what we can do. The sytem is biased in the ladies favor and is fueled by legions of horney guys who mass mail.

Definately go for the Funny option. From what I garner she seems to be coming across as cold and defensive, and someone who perhaps regularly uses this attitude online as a way of panning the gold out of the muddy river, as it were.

The issue with Sarging online - and by this I mean, properly chatting someone up and trying to get a date-close, rather than just seeking some cybersex roleplay - is that 4/5 guys out there in cyberspace are sat with their pants down and just seeking a momentary bit of fun. Any attractive looking/sounding girl who has been online for more than ten minutes will have realised this, and this is why they will try to knock you back. The real trick online is to appear as if you're interested in chatting to random people and having a bit of a laugh... if it comes across like you are actively seeking out a girl then you'll repel all the ones you speak to. Girls respond to humour because it's something which is hard not to instinctively respond to. If you make her laugh on her side of the computer screen, then her defenses with lowly fall. This is because truly witty guys online shine like diamonds amongst a sea of sleazy "What are u wearing?" kind-of blokes.

Be careful, however, that your humour doesn't come across as too much of a chat-up. Your funny line example here is a good opener, especially since any of the other options (all knock-backs) might send an already-exasperated girl offline, but be sure not to follow it up with another complimentary line because you want to come across as naturally funny and crucially not wanting to get into her pants. Save those lines for much later on in the conversation(s).

As the 'Nik Fontain' rule-of-thumb, do your best to desist from being overly flattering or complimentary until her online replies are coming back at you as quickly as your replies are going back at her. This shows you have her near-undivided attention, which means you're in there. Let her take charge of the conversation; don't be too eager to reply immediately - count out 40 seconds between each reply, then notice how fast her replies are. If she's hanging on your replies, then you can begin properly flirting and use the other options you set out in your initial post.
