What do you think of that?

That is a bit of a difficult postion for you. but when someone does that, you can't let yourself blink. i'd probably say something like one of the following.


1. "hi to you too. not reading my profile...hmm guess that means you're a meanie then. it's better that i know that about you now than later. "

2. "hi, that's okay. i don't have anything against illiterates. you're people too afterall. " then maybe follow it up with something like "so how do you wanna do this? sign language? charades?"

3."hi... oh that's too bad. you'll never find waldo now"

when someone talks to you like that. you want to make a point that it isn't going to phase you and also that she will have to be the one to break the conversation. don't be particulary mean. but use some humor and act like you don't care what she thinks of you.

at least she's writing you back. if you would have chickened out from responding you'd be dead in the water anyhow. you may as well reply even if it leads to another insulting message. you're going to get rejected at times anyhow. you may as well get practice at being shot down. but it's actually satisfying to stand up for yourself. try to use a bit of humor to diffuse it all though. that does a number of things. it makes you look like you're always in control. it makes you seem fun. it also smooths things out in case it was just her having a bad day. one good thing about online sarging is it gives you time to think and lets you come up with something well thought out. once you have a number of routinely used lines they are just in your head for when face to face.

Just for future reference...

This is not a tricky situation. You didn't need to engage with her shit about your profile at all. Get out of the mindset that you need to react to everything she says. Set the frame yourself - don't follow hers.

If I'd have got that message, I'd have just said "Hi" and then went into my normal spiel.

Update on this, after about two weeks she has finally replied to my original message which was
