Because you can do a lot with your screen name or sub-screen name, with your status, with the way you enter a conversation, and so on..
But you want some good openers, right? Here are some fun ways to open a woman on Yahoo/aim/msn or whatever kind of IM:
1. The foreign language mystery..
Write about 3 to 4 lines (as much text as one typing box allows you to use) in English, doesn't matter what you say..then throw that stuff in some translator like
www.freetranslation.com and translate it into Russian, or Japanese or another freaky language.
She'll think (and probably say): wtf?
After which, you can either be cocky & funny about her not knowing any other languages (and are you like..a patriotic redneck or something?), use the language of a country you've been to on vacation and tell about your crazy adventures there..it's FUN, and unexpected. You can also let her guess for the meaning, then pretend it means something dirty and sexual, so play around with it!
2. The who is this?
Most men FEAR embarassing themselves by letting a woman know they've forgotten her name..because they think she'll be turned off by it or whatever, but it's actually quite FUN:
me: and WHO are you again?
me: wait..wait..let me guess..Barbara right?
she: omg! nooo! hahaha!
me: okay wait wait..are you that drunken BBQ chick who was playing around with the saucages a bit tooo long, then threw up on my best friend's shirt and wrote her IM on my arm before she went home sick?
she: iell, no! (at this point she's kinda disgusted, disappointed in me, shocked)
me: then who friggin' are you? are you an anonymous stalker or what?
The whole point is: guess about who she is as outrageous and indifferent as possible, and after teasing her and challenging her and saying the most outrageous things (like I did just now), tell her just kidding..how you're doing .. (her name here)..really funny, and sure to get her attention BIG TIME. I pretty much don't know anyone else who pulls this very ballsy move off.
Even if her IM name has her name in it, screw it, and tell her how she's just using that as an undercover name..have fun with it. In every case where she has some "chick nick" (a typical girlie girl nickname): even better!
