I haven't seen this topic yet (maybe its buried deep in the posts, I have selective vision sometimes).

This is a topic I am encountering now and feel so-so comfortable with, but I am always up for inputs, and I think this could benefit others as well provided this post gets some action.

My scenario is that I am in the military and am in the process of moving between countries. I just arrived into a country in which I don't know many people, and thought to myself, why don't I use websites like MySpace to my advantage? Next in line, I will be leaving Korea and heading onto England at the end of 2009 (God bless those who gave me my assignment). My goal is to meet some people online prior to touching down in London. And when I get there, I will hopefully have a stash of ladies in which I will have be-friended.

Now I know with so much time in between this could shatter most conventional PUA rules of get in, make the move, and make it quick. No hesitation. This is a scenario where time is in abundance.

So I have used standard MySpace browsing techniques out in England to find if there are any attractive women, low and behold there are a few! This is where my question comes up, how should I approach these distant women?

I have two methods I am trying right now that both seem to be successful:

The first opener is one that I found posted by Sparks (props!), with a slight modification, that I can use in most any situation regardless of distance:

hey, that girl in the picture there is kinda cute... can you hook me up with her?? =)

- chance

ps: atleast make sure shes nice first!

I have received responses that vary from playfulness to clueless, but both have opened well. The other one I am using is a little longer winded, which is why I am not a fan of it, but it has drawn some positive responses:

hey {insert name here} whats goin on? i saw you were out there in england, and since i don't know anyone there yet, i figured i would say hey! i'm actually getting stationed out there next year, so i'm trying to get a feel from a local whether it was a good choice. it sounded good to me to be just over an hour out of london, and in a country i've never been to. but who better to ask than someone already out there. so whats your take on the place?

Now I realize that this doesn't fall into the normal neg category that a lot of online sargers will attempt, but I see it more of reaching out and making the woman feel useful. I'm not bloating her head up like an AFC. I'm infact using her for my own personal gain. And honestly, so far it has worked well.

In conclusion, this post isn't necessarily about benefiting me as much as I want to throw this topic out there for others who are in the same situation. People who are moving to a new location where they don't know anyone, and want to get a head start. I think this topic has potential.

Oh, and feel free to critique me as well, I don't mind a few verbal beat downs if in the end it makes me a better PUA / online sarger at the same time.

Good luck to everyone else!! Hopefully this topic starts something to help ya'll!
