I'm about to transition to phone and was wondering if anyone could offer some good topics for the first phone call. Also, should I just go straight ahead and ask for a first date?

You can use anything that was said in the messages that was exchanged between the two of you. The popular topic I run into the most so far is asking each other if they have done online dating before, if so how long or successful has it been and what they thought about it. I know "interview" questions are bad, but I have found them a bit useful with online dating. The key is to make sure your asking them in an non-interview way and that you space out the questions so that they are not back to back. If you do this ask light hearted questions, like do you have any brothers or sisters. And from her answer use that as the next thing to talk about and let it go from there until that topic runs out and ask another "interview" question. This method so far as been the best way I have found for talking to girls I met online. As it allows you to get to know the girl better for one. And secondly you don't need to really worry about having pre-planed topics to talk about. Plus it allows you to talk about different things with each girl you meet online.
If you mean to call up and ask for a date, that is a huge no no. If you mean ask for a date near the end of the conversation, that you have to literally hear/listen for.

i admit.. the first time you call them it is a little weird.. but!


DO NOT MAKE IT SEEM WEIRD!.. be yourself, be fun, excited to talk to her.. and you will receive the same in return.. talk about what you do, what she does, what she does for fun.. stuff like that.. then tell her you are going somewhere and you would like for her to meet you there if she wants..

if she wants to she will go.. but if not don't sweat try again in a couple days.

Yeah definately try not to make it weird but do try and make yourself stand out from any other guy that might've called her recently. Ask her some non-standard questions. Crack out the "If a magician came along and you could be anything you wanted to be, what would you choose?" or similar - then you've got some material to work on for when you go on a date/whatever.
