Actually, I have two questions, and any other feedback on this topic would be much appreciated.

First, where does one go to get their professional portrait taken? I've seen some pretty lame professional portaits and I've seen some that look baller (!). I know Target and JC Penny have studios for this stuff but their galleries look pretty bland to be honest.

Secondly, for anyone who's had their picture professionally taken before, can you offer any insight or resources on how to produce a quality shot? Maybe you just have to leave it all up to the photographer?

Or look on craigslist and put a post out there and get someone to follow you around your city

DSLR's are great but if you do not know how to set it up correctly then your quality might be no greater than an iphone quality

I encourage you to either learn how to set up the complex settings or pay someone to do it for you.
