How to avoid abandonment?

So I've been talking to a few targets, and I got the conversation rolling, and once we exchange pictures, The conversation is over. sometimes the convo keeps going maybe 3 more responses each and then I'm left hanging. At one point I sent my pic and never got one in return. I don't consider myself ugly but maybe I'm kidding myself.

How can I prevent this from happening? What can I say so that looks don't really matter?
