Hey guys.. I'll do y'all a favor and just make this quick... I'm on both OKC and POF. Years ago I did okay with online dating, though lately I just cannot win. I mean 40 messages for 1 response!

I have tried what I think are pretty good openings and even followups. I've tried variations of messages here as well as other places, and even made what I thought were good changes as well. My profiles are pretty good too, not too long or short. A bit of humor, honesty, etc. Same with my messages. And most importantly I'm light years away from being a 9 or the elusive 10, but I am just a good old fashioned nice looking guy, where I use only pics that I look good in, with family and alone as well.

Anyway, before I copy and paste I figure I'll wait and see what kind of response this get. This is hardly the first or last post of it's kind here and elsewhere, but I'd like my specific techniques critiqued by those that know what they're talking about and or those that just have better luck then I! Look forward to your help!

How tall are you? Most guys on these sites exaggerate their height by at least two inches and I think a lot of girls filter out guys messaging them that are less than 6ft...

Yeah definitely. Personally I'd put 2-3 more inches on there because 1) every other guy on the site will be exaggerating 2) when you meet she won't care / you can make up the difference with the right footwear

I almost hate to do that but if you're right you're right... Makeup of a different form?:} And like you say, they won't notice right away if you're off by an inch or two, but more than that would be tough I'd think. Do you have online dating experience and or issues with your height?

It's annoying because girl don't care about height anywhere near as much when meeting guys in person but online if they are being bombarded with messages it's a pretty easy filter.

Very good point! In person I've never had anyone complain about my height, I mean I'm not tall and technically below average, but I'm no Kevin Hart or Sean Astin!

Well I'll try to see what you guys might suggest... Without copying word for word, on my OKC I'll give you a quick gist...

"Self Summary:" I'm quick, couple sentences, and essentially bullet a few points.

"Doing with life:" Working, writing, finishing grad school, keeping busy with family and friends... And gearing up for the next chapter of life.

"Good at:" Again, a few bullets of things that gasp, I'm good at! I end with a joke about the zombie apocalypse.

"First thing noticeable:" I make a joke about my eyeglasses.

"Books etc \ 6 Things \ Friday night:" Again, just a few bullets of things, nothing crazy or disturbing or stupid or desperate. (1 from each category: The League \ Car \ spending time with family.)

"Private thing:" Make an NSA joke and then another one about crying during Golden Girls.

"Message me if:" Is blank.

So that's it in a nutshell. Basic profile, gives a pretty good picture of who I am, what I'm doing, etc. Sense of humor is displayed as well. Pics include one of myself with my one niece, my sister, my sister in law, under a pile of snow, and with a comedian. Also, my hair line sucks and I've thinned out a bit, but not to the point I'll just be going with a buzz, which I will do if I get thinner.

In four of the five pics I do have a hat on as I just got used to it and always hated doing my hair anyway, but I don't have it on in one pic so you can see I'm hardly that bad... So it's not like how when you see a girl and all her pics are from the neck up because she's heavy.

Guys, thoughts and help would be great!

A little taste of your sense of humor makes them want more. Too many jokes at once makes you seem like a clown and trying to win their attention.

Yeah, true... Its just surprising, I mean I think I have a really good profile and send really good messages. Now yeah, if I'm only a 6.5 myself but messaging 9's then I should stop bitching, but I'm messaging all sorts! (Within my sphere of attraction personality and physical wise that is.)
