Hey, so I've been trying out the online dating world the last month or two. I seem to get a decent number of views/winks/messages from girls...just not the one's I'm interested in. Whenever I message a girl they often (if they read it) do then check out my profile but I rarely get a response (about 1 in 10).

So the question: does my profile suck or are they not really interested from my initial message and just checking my profile out from curiosity rather than interest.

Here's my profile text...any thoughts, suggestions, critique welcome.

Om mig
"Hej there! :)"

A former SPAM used to introduce me as the luckiest bloke he knew, the type of guy who could fall into a sewer naked and emerge sporting a spotless white Armani suit. Several years later, and I think he was right (other than the choice of attire). :)

I am unabashedly equal parts intelligence, impulsive, witty, dork & empathic wrapped in a Scottish tartan package (kilt negotiable after 2nd date). I've had the pleasure of living in four different countries and speaking none of their languages particularly well (especially English). ;)

I can cook and not just by the Scottish definition. I have on occasion been known to wake up in the wrong country (usually with my passport). I own my own shoes. My family are quite possibly borderline instituational but all the same I wouldn't take them any other way.

I enjoy running although largely when it's warmer than "fimbulvetr", which can essentially be defined as sporadic at best in Northern Europe. I enjoy talking to strangers (despite my parents warnings as a kid). I once got into a political discussion with a group of gentlemen with guns, much to my professors unease. I am the child of the 80s, and have a enormous love of cheesy electro pop as a result.

Job og karriere
I am geologist, which according to my engineering colleagues largely involves giving vague answers, hitting rocks with a hammer to make sure they are in fact actually rocks, HIGH-risk colouring in and going to warm exotic locations for 'field trips'. To summarise, I LOVE my job. :)

Jeg søger
Brains, looks, sense of humour, drive, a bit of class and a bit of sass...but of course the important ingredient is the chemistry. :)

It's hard to tell without seeing your whole profile. What you have written is alright, not great.

But the things that are going to affect you the most are, photos, age, height, and what messages you are sending.

1 in 10 is about average, especially if you are going for the super hot women.

Hmm it not as funny as it thinks it is. You come across as a nice guy, confident, but nothing unique about you just seem bland, same as everyone else.

Do you know what want? Having some kind of standards, preference so a girl can think 'ow I'm that kind of girl' show you slightly higher value your self.

Cheers.

You got any advice on the stronger/weaker portions? The 'what I'm looking for' is the last line, the header is in Danish which is prob why you didn't catch it.

And yeah HB7-9s is the range I'm contacting. Up to five years younger and a couple above (I'm 31)...plus they're all shorter than me. Couple of good head shots and one good body shot.

Gonna firm up my text and see if that improves things.

It's not there yet...taking a step back I can still see some weakness in a few areas but here's my halfway update if anyone has any specific areas the would like to comment on.

"Hej there! :)"

A former SPAM used to introduce me as the luckiest bloke he knew, the type of guy who could fall into a sewer naked and emerge sporting a spotless white Armani suit.

I am one part James McAvoy, one part Billy Connolly and a soupcon of Hans Solo wrapped in a Scottish tartan package. I've been interrogated by the FBI and was recently rugby tackled by Queen Margrethe's secret service. Buy me a beer, and I'll tell you more.

Once upon a time, I got drunk and as a result spent two years living in the US. True Story. I've had the pleasure of living in four different countries and speaking none of their languages particularly well (particularly English). I can cook and not just by the Scottish definition. My family are quite possibly borderline sanctionable which has resulted in me walking on fire and breaking an arrow with my neck (long story). Still, I wouldn't take them any other way.

I enjoy running although largely when it's warmer than "fimbulvetr", which can essentially be defined as sporadic at best in Northern Europe. I enjoy talking to strangers (despite my parents warnings as a kid) so much so the other night in the pub I spent 20 mins talking to a lovely old couple who I assumed were my old schoolmates grandparents. Turns out he had no idea who they were. I am the child of the 80s, and have a enormous love of cheesy electro pop as a result and can sometimes be found singing in the shower despite my inability to sing.

I am a geologist, which according to my engineering colleagues largely involves giving vague answers, hitting rocks with a hammer to make sure they are in fact actually rocks, high-risk colouring in and going to warm exotic locations for 'field trips'. In truth, my job is part artist, part scientist, part manager. It can be pretty intense at times but I would choose this career all over again if asked.

Knowing what you want in life is important to me, someone with passion, intelligence and beauty but who knows how to let her hair down and enjoy life.

i personally think it is very witty and intelligent and ought to appeal to a lot of women. Though it would appeal to the more intelligent women out there, as opposed to the bimbo/glamourous types.
