How do I follow up with that?

It's called a shit test bro. She's trying to see if you'll get all sappy and try to praise her to make up for it. If you do, you fail her test.

She ended with Gee Thanks. To which you can reply "Your WELCOME!" and act like you genuinely thought she was thankful for the compliment. I've found that pretending to not understand the shit test is a great way to neutralize it. It's far better than saying "What I meant was..." or something along those lines. Women play all these little head games, but you can just play dumb and it will neutralize their tactics.
