Has being dhv ever gotten you robbed?

It seems to me that sites like this and any site that teaches you how to not get robbed or get your identity stolen seem to contradict each other. For example a lot of people on here would probably agree that mobile uploaded pics to facebook during vacation are major DHV. These same pics tell a thief that now is a good time to rob your home! Any thoughts on being DHV and being safe?

Set your damn Facebook to private then! How would a thief know how to look on your Facebook, work out you are on vacation at that precise moment in time, mysteriously work out your home address etc.

I don't have any idea how this made sense when you thought it up bro 8)

He's right. It's a very less than stellar move to put your home address on facebook to say the least. Seriously, normally I am not this condescending but, how does this make any sense to you? Do you think thieves are going to some how pinpoint the exact geographic location of where you live and ascertain that you are on vacation from your photos? Get real.

I've been able to work out where facebook friends lived without them giving me an address before. For example, it narrows things down a lot if they show themselves in there swimming pool. Also narrows down if it shows other pics of there house or what they drive. I might be able to find where someone lives off of those 3 things with help from google maps alone if I knew what town to look in. None of these things by themselves will give it away but each pic could give you a little clue.

Oh yeah, I just remembered. One time someone posted a pretty dhv pic of themselves having a party at there house in there driveway. Right across the street is a barber shop you could see that I use to go to. Then weeks later they said they are going on vacation. If I were dishonest I could have easily ripped these guys off!
