I'm trying to follow the advice I read regarding these dating site profiles. I wrote it how I thought various posts have said to, looked at a few other guys' profiles for inspiration, put up a couple pics on Hot or Not and used the one that got the best results as my main pic (its sitting at 9.3 last I checked. Only 114 votes but still. Either the trolls are being funny or I'm doing OK).

I changed my location to a city closer to Columbus, because I think that might be part of the problem (distance).

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Put Columbus, no one needs to know you live int he sticks right off the bat unless you cant drag your ass to the city for a date.

Are you sure you want to put just dating, no girlfriends? You know your eliminating 50% or more of interested chicks right off the bat right? And those chicks include many who mostly just want sex.

You seem to be limiting your results a lot by being overly honest about silly demographics that are only used to disqualify members not help them.

1) Do you smile (a good smile shows those pearly whites)???
2) Do you sleep in that hat??

Also, post some pics of you doing your hobbies.

The army/marine pic is good. Your other two are just face shots you took yourself. At least set the timer on your camera and get one body shot.

Just some ideas to think about.

Dude, you need to smile...Remember who you are making this profile for. Way too much to read in your profile. Take all of the negative messages out of your photos! I would suggets you look at something different than "Who wants a dolphin" Go with something more random!

detox - It might have been on this site, but somewhere in another POF profile help thread the advice that was given was to NOT put 'looking for a relationship'. Which seemed the opposite of what made sense, but I figured OK, these guys know more than me, what with me being out of the field for 10 years. Glad to see I haven't completely lost it.

dlightmen - No worries on being blunt. That's how I am, and what I prefer from others.

1) I'm trying to get better pics, including smile. I hate posing for photos, I always feel like my smile looks fake. I much prefer if someone just says "Hey, smile" when I'm doing something I enjoy or whatever, and gets the pic then.

2) I wear a hat a lot. There's one thing women like that I just don't have: hair. Usually I keep my head shaved with a razor. I was blessed with genetics that gave me thinning hair at like 25 or so. And I haven't quite reached the point that I'm vain enough to call those Bosley people. OK, I have reached that point, but I don't have the $ right this minute.

I will follow your advice. Better pics coming as soon as I can get them. I'll see what I can do about this weekend.

Don't worry about being bald, dude. Shave your head and go for the Vin Diesel look. I think my comment also came out wrong. It looks like the same hat in two different pics. If you're gonna wear a hat just make sure it is obvious they are different. that's all.

Hats can be a way cool accessory. I wear baseball caps all the time, too. Just because every gf I've ever had has told me I look "sexy" with one. Don't stop with baseball caps either. Beanies, Fedoras, even a bandanna wrapped around your head can look cool. Experiment around and try different things.
