I was just doing some math recently on OKC and POF for guy to girl ratio and it made sense why I did much better on OKC than POF. Here are some numbers

# of 18-21 within 25 miles of me logged on in the last week:
OKC: 734 guys/669 girls, 1.097 ratio (9.7% more guys than girls)
POF: 642/386, 1.663 ratio (5 guys for every 3 girl)

# of 18-21 within 25 miles of me logged on in the last day:
OKC: 408/404, 1.010 ratio (just 1% more guys than girls)
POF: 452/291, 1.553 ratio (17 guys for 11 girls)

If you only date white girls, the ratio is worse for you. Plus this is a good indicator of what attractive girls receive because white women receive the most messages.
# of 18-21 total guys to white girls within 25 miles in the last week:
OKC: 734/411, 1.786 ratio
POF: 642/208, 3.087 ratio

# of 22-23 within 25 miles of logged in the last week:
OKC: 1240/1103, 1.124 ratio
POF: 782/360, 2.172 ratio (about 15 guys for 7 girls)

# 22-23 within 25 miles in the last day:
OKC: 730/649, 1.125 ratio
POF: 381/261, 1.460 ratio

#22-23 total guys to white girls within 25 miles in the last week:
OKC: 1240/710, 1.746 ratio
POF: 782/191, 4.094 ratio


Cliffs:
-POF is a sausage fest. It gets worse as the ratio as the ages go up.
-If you like white women, POF is terrible for you.
- From about 18-22, the ratio on OKcupid is pretty good for guys. Once you hit 23 years old, it starts trending towards women. From 24 onwards, its a sausage fest so even OKCupid is not immune to it.
-It appears that while men log on a lot more during the week, women have a higher ratio of logging on everyday compared to weekly. This probably means the women are a little more serious than the men.

Did you actually count every single person or something because I sure like to know how you came up with these numbers. As I doubt you counted every single person.

POF is also more popular than OkCupid so of course it will have more guys than girls. And the ratio doesn't get worse when you go up in age. I bet if you look at girls from say 30 to 35 you will find a greater number of girls than almost any other age group, as when a girl gets to her 30's and is still single with no kids, her baby timer starts to kick in and her want to have a kid increases.

What makes you think white girls get the most messages?
No dating site is immune from the sausage fest factor.
I doubt it has anything to do with them being serious or not. More than likely it shows how the sexes use or interact with these sites.

I definitely didnt count them by hand. They tell you how many there are when you do a search.
For OkCupid, I found the ratio to be 1.37 guys/girls from age 30-35. There was an average of 357 women per age in the 30-35 group which is higher than the 18-21 group, but not 22-23 group and certainly not the 24 and up group. All evidence points to that.

I created a 8-9 account on POF and Okcupid. Here is the comparison of the # of messages these accounts got:

-POF- 20 messages in the first hour.
-OKC- 20 messages in 4 hours (8 in 1st hour)

-POF- 150 messages within 24 hours
-OKC- 40 messages within 24 hours

-POF 240 messages within 48 hours
-OKC 60 messages within 48 hours

-POF 330 message in 1 week
- OKC 116 messages in 1 week

So POF had about 3-4x more messages than OKCupid at comparable points.

I've always maintained that Plenty of Fish is an absolute waste of time.

I've messed with that site off an on for about a year and a half; probably sent some 500 messages.

I have yet to receive ONE response from a girl I write--- ever. Not a one.

At least on the response side of things, I've done better on other sites, but wish the paid ones were more up front with you about whether you're actually talking to a subscriber (someone who'll even see your message)

As far as the sites becoming a sausage festival as you get up in the age, isn't that ironic? The ratio is heavily in your favor at a time in your life when you most likely don't need online dating.

When you're a few years out of college, got a nice career nailed down, etc., *now* you're in sausage-ville for trying to meet girls??

What evidence? There is no way to be able to tell that white girls are getting messaged more than any other girl on the site. And while the more attractive girls do get loads of messages, there is no way to tell how many they get nor is anyway to be able to tell who gets more.
What you mean by dealing with it?
Which has to do with what I said about how each sex uses the site. Women overall get more messages from guys and because of that they have to login more or else they get loads of unread messages.

Interesting idea but it's a very small sample size. Really it's going to change per city/country/region.

Also, how did you count the guys? From a girls profile or your own? I believe OKC (and maybe POF) filter results so if a guy has "Women only" in his profile and you're searching, he won't show up to you on a guy's profile.

edit: Also your conclusions are a little off, imho. Since women tend to go for (slightly) older guys, you're probably safely within the good ratio until you hit your mid-late twenties.

Interesting. I'll admit I've had a lot more success (proportionally) with OKC rather than POF.

I've probably contacted a couple of hundred girls on POF in the last year, of which I've slept with about 3.

OKC, I've contacted probably only about a dozen and have slept with 2. So that's a much better ratio!

FWIW, I think POF attracts a lot of wasters- and it's a question of getting your message/profile read in the first place. I pretty much work on the assumption that if a girl is interested enough to reply, then she's interested enough to sleep with me.

Unless you can datamine the entire website for all available regions in the United States, you're not going to get a good number.

Small towns for example: The population of my town is supposedly 11,408 with 6,081 Females. This includes all the children and elderly as well.

If you compared the data on PlentyOfFish on here to say Los Angeles or even Santa Monica alone, you'd see the numbers are completely different. When I log into PoF, It's the same women online every time I see them but if you view males, usually you find a variation.

Every dating site will be a sausage fest.. it's no secret that guys like sex and want to sleep with just about anyone they can. Women don't join these sites to find "discreet hookups" they definitely don't need to. Guys do join for this reason (well most of them) I'm not knocking all guys, I'm sure there's some decent men still out there who believe in being hopeless romantics and chivalry.

My firm belief is that OkCupid is too much work for males just looking for quick lays. PoF is easy.. set up your profile and you can browse until your hand goes numb. OkCupid takes more clicking action and effort into sending out masses of messages and there's something to do with the color scheming and layout of the website that draws more women to it.

Actually they do. I mean where do you think married females go to have affairs these days? Just go to POF and do a search for married females and look at how many are looking for uh male friends. Think about it, why would a married female be looking for male friends on an online dating site?
OkCUpid is a step up from POF as far as service goes so to speak. As its a site that is more geared for those that want to actually date each other. Yes it does have an area for hook ups, tho POF is a bit more geared for that.

Both are free sites so you have to factor in the fake profiles.
