There's a girl who's a friend of a friend and I've only met twice in person 3 or 4 years ago. We didn't really talk too much, it was at a social gathering and unfortunately I didn't take the opportunity to know her then. She did add me on FB around that time but I haven't talked to her since or seen her. Yesterday I saw pictures of her in my news feed and shes much more attractive than when I last saw her. I want to message her and need some help on how to start the conversation.

There are many posts on how to message girls who have gone cold/you haven't talked to in a while OR girls who you don't know at all. This is neither because I (somewhat) know her, but haven't really talked to her in the past. Should I just say "Hi" and take it from there or maybe comment on something interesting in a picture of hers? Any pointers would be great.

There are several things you can do. I have two techniques in mind to at least get somewhat in touch and they are both reasonably effective to extremely effective. Depends on the girl.

Technique 1:
Send her this:
“Aliens are coming to abduct all the sexy people off the planet and force them to breed. You should be safe, I just wanted to text to say goodbye.”

I have got some good respones when I used this technique, and one "bad" respone (it actually wasn't that bad, she just was like "Seriously? -_-", but I bet she actualy had a laugh at it)

But...., you could also use this one (the more effective one):

Technique 2:
You: "Congratulations"
Her: "Lol why, forwhat?"
You: "I was just thinking about you, congratulations"

Every time I used this one, I got good responses

*She fell asleep because I took a while to send the above msg, so in the morning she replies...*

After this I msgd her on SPAM and continued the conversation. She seems to be responding well so far. I'm gonna try to meet up with her soon, any suggestions? I'll follow up with any major changes

This reminded me of another opener, "I like salad."

The girl is usually caught off guard. They respond in a number of ways of course:

Them : "I don't like salad" -> You: "Do you like carrots or broccoli?"

Eh this is just beating around the bush too much and will only usually get a response is they're either just bored or they have no one to talk to, the second is usually not a very good catch. You guys have the right idea but you're putting too much thought into it. It kinda comes off as gimmicky, or could just potentially blow up in your face because anyone that's had a gf and was able to see her fb, I share my passes with who I date, would see message like these display low value and they get them all the time. Most people have fb for friends and family so the easiest way stand out and to open anyone on fb without coming off as needy is to simply act like it was completely by accident. Send her a request, then when she accepts just apologize say you didn't realize you sent em a request, and say you checked out their profile and they seem fun. they'll respond with "lol" and something nice back because it happens to everyone on fb. After her response just jump into both indirect and direct game. You can figure out the niche that works for you and you're style, but this will guarantee genuine responses and you'll be easier to open people up by teasing. And most importantly, do this with multiple people at once and keep in mind, you're qualifying them, they aren't qualifying you. That mindset will also help things flow and help you come off fun and confident.

Once you get into the rhythm you'll see how it flows and how it works and that it's not really as hard as most ppl make it to be. I have it down to where within 10 messages, if not sooner, were exchanging numbers and texting, and once texting begins the transition from contact pic to body pics isn't that difficult, and an f close is pretty much in the bag after that. I've done it with an abundance of women and different types to just test game. It depends on how much effort I'm really putting into it, generally I get a response rate of 9/10.
