There's this girl on Facebook who I've never met and don't know anything about, who's friends with another friend of mine. From her profile, I can see that she's a big fan of the same football (soccer) team as me, she goes to games and everything, which is pretty "unusual" for cute girls, especially where I'm from!

I'd really like to contact her, but I'm concerned that I'll come off as creepy just messaging her out of the blue! I don't even know if she has a boyfriend, how old she is (although she LOOKS about 25) or ANYTHING else about her, other than we're passionate about the same team, and she's really cute!

How can I find a plausible reason/excuse to Facebook message her? Or would it just be too weird?

Well, really, the only thing you CAN do, is send her a friend request and see if she accepts. If she does, just send her a PM mentioning her passion for the team, and kick off from there.

Having common interests is always good as it makes for easier communication.

Also, where the hell do you live that it's rare for a girl to like football?

Here where I live you see tons of them. You might wanna consider moving to Western Europe if you want a football fan gf.

I'm English. There ARE plenty of cute girls who like football here, just not very many who support MY team! Haha!

I'd probably drop it, I don't normally 'chase' a girl unless she's proven to be worth it, which... very few manage to do.

If she isn't up for some chat, I'd just forget about it.

just drop it. randomly messaging girls you don't know on facebook is pretty much the lowest probability strategy out there. If you have some software bot that messages 1000000 girls maybe it's worth the effort, otherwise, it's just a waste of time. Get on a real dating site or game in real life.
